Boxes…

When I started thinking about my future it did not look like this. I thought that I would be semi-sucessful in whatever I career I chose. I thought that yes, I would do better than my dad when it came to my finances. My future was not planned, but it had direction. Once i got married, my husband and I decided that I would stay home with our kids, and raise them. You know, be good parents and bring them up how we wanted not rely on daycares and such. This is one thing that I do not regret in the least. I feel that my kids are better off for that decision. What that decision did hurt however, is my ability to get a job now. Now, when we need the money the most, I can not get a job. Why? Everyone wants people with more experience. A stay at home mom does not have that experience. Regardless of the fact that I spent 9 years running a household and managing little people, my lack of paycheck is off putting. Everyone and their dog are scrambeling to get jobs with the economy in shambles like it is. Which means that even a job that would normally hire anyone is being pickier. Not good my friends, not good at all.

So here we are dealing with a lack of funds when we get another wammie. A wammie in the form of a letter from a lawyer. Our landlord had defaulted on his loan and the house that we are living in was taken over by the bank and set to be sold in late December, early January. So T and I have decided that in order to make our lives a little less stressful (will we get to stay in our house? Will they kick us out early?) we are taking the kids and moving out.  It’s rather bittersweet to be spending this last month in our house. We have lived here a little over 10 years so we have a lot of history here. It’s a house that we have hated the whole time (landlord fixes nothing!! House is falling apart!) yet I still feel sad to be moving. For the immediate future we  will be living with T’s parents (omg kill me now). Thankfully they have a large mostly empty house so it won’t be an overly tight fit for us all, but it’s not our own place. With me not having a job, it’s our only option.  So the plan is to move to the in laws and catch up on bills and create a cushion for ourselves (no need to put ourselves in this situation again) and then start looking for another rental.  We have a plan, I have started working on ways to save money for us (and still look for a job) so this is only temporary. Nothing like having the economy hit so freaking close to home.

Time to start packing.
